Mindfulness in Society

At Ser Integral we recognize that mindfulness is not merely a tool for stress reduction or well-being — it is a fundamental human capacity, a way of being in the world that allows us to respond with intention, clarity, and compassion to the profound challenges of our time.

We live in a context marked by acceleration, distraction, complexity, and growing dehumanization. Beyond alleviating suffering, mindfulness offers something more radical and necessary: a way to reorient attention toward what truly matters, to reclaim individual and collective agency, and to inhabit our relationships — human, social, and ecological — with greater presence and responsibility.

We seek to contribute to the development of a more embodied and ethical awareness, capable of supporting meaningful transformation in individuals, institutions, organizations, and communities.

What We Mean by Mindfulness

What We Mean by Mindfulness

Our work is grounded in a vision of mindfulness that goes beyond its instrumental or therapeutic use.

We are inspired by an understanding that integrates its relational, ethical, and emancipatory dimensions, following the definition proposed by Weare & Bethune (2020):

“Mindfulness goes to the heart of the human challenge, to help us reassess what we value and what makes us authentically and meaningfully happy, to understand ourselves more deeply, to relate more effectively to our own emotions and behaviors, and to experience our inescapable connection with the social and ecological contexts in which we live.”
(p. 3)

Accordingly, we understand mindfulness as:

  • a mental training — developing attention, clarity, and stability

  • an ethical training — cultivating discernment, care, and responsibility

  • a way of relating to the world — recognizing interdependence and fostering intentional action

  • a force for human agency — the capacity to act with purpose in times of uncertainty

Mindfulness-based programmes to promote mental health, emotional balance and personal development.

We offer a range of evidence-based mindfulness programmes that support personal transformation and promote mental, physical and emotional well-being. MBSR, MBCT, Mindfulness for Life, MBRP and mindfulness for children and young people are designed to meet the specific needs of the community.

Mindfulness Programs for Schools

What if we could include in school practices something that simultaneously develops the ability to focus and pay attention; emotional regulation skills; compassion and empathy, as well as health and well-being?
